Ahh… The East
Tuesday, November 23rd, 2004I’m home.. and its 3:33 AM EST. More later.
I’m home.. and its 3:33 AM EST. More later.
Alright… get this… I figured today that I’d leave at 4 PM today for my 8:50 PM flight. stop at Borders in Fairview. get food on the way. and then get to the airport to park my car. Well I ate at Sonic in Collinsville. then stopped at Borders. then got back on I-64W. and it was backed up for like 10 miles due to construction… Idiots! Not only that. but on SR-159. traffic was insane.
So. I got to the airport. pulled into a parking spot… and a shuttle followed me to the spot to pick me up… That was pretty cool. I got to the East Terminal. checked my bags… waited for about an hours… and guess what… my flight is delayed for an hour and fifteen minutes!! So. I won’t be getting into BWI until around 1 AM EST. Oh well… I’ve got the iPod and Blogger and that should hold me over for a while… Yes. I am at the airport right NOW… at gate E-14.
I’m debating going to Chili’s To-Go… That should kill some time. The new Jimmy Eat World is in my ears right now. and its amazing. I might post again. depending how bored I am… Catch ya later.
It’s been a while since I’ve posted… and for that I apologize. I’ve been busy this week making Pennington CDs. doing weird projects elsewhere around campus. and just school in general.
Last night. I had the opportunity to run sound for Benjamin del Shreve. That was awesome. Singapore For America openned and that was way cool too. I had one of those nights were I was prepared to run sound. and it. from what I could tell sounded fine… but something within my mind thought it could be better. I was doing everything I knew to do. but it wasn’t coming together like I knew it could… Then. about 20 minutes before the end of BDS’s set. it was like it all of a sudden became clear… I could hear everything in the mix. and knew what to do with it. It was like the first time I understood how to mix a band. It’s a great feeling… it’s as if you’re carrying the sound with your fingertips. Every little change to EQ. compression. or a level I could hear the difference. If only I could learn to do that every show I run sound for…
I’m about to go take a test for Managing LANs… Then I’m going to go to the Blackroom and start setting up for the Rock Class concert tonight in the Blackroom. It should be pretty good. I just woke up from a 2 hour nap which was wonderful. I love the feeling of being just awake enough to look at the clock and realizing you have more time to sleep. My mouth still hurts but I think its getting better. I’m going home a week from today. Pennington’s album is about done and I’m about to start printing off artwork. I hope we can get them enough copies before Thanksgiving. I have to finish an ASP.NET assignment tonight for WWW Programming. I need to finish this site too eventually. I got the “Maybe This Christmas Tree” compilation and it is wonderful. The version of “Do You Hear What I Hear?” by Copeland is simply beautiful. You can listen to that at PureVolume. assuming they didn’t take it off yet. Is it bad when you can just type inserting HTML tags where they need to go without thinking about it? Oh geez. Last night I made hamburgers with this honey teriyaki w/ sesame sauce that Rod wanted to get. It was really good. It actually tasted like I was eating Chinese food on a bun. I have 2910 songs on my iPod right now. I need to rip a bunch of my CDs when I go home for Thanksgiving. My friend Dexter Brank is going to come back with me and he’s going to play shows and we’re going to record his next album. hopefully. In any case. it’ll be fun. I need to go… I’ll post more random ramblings later. Hope you all have a great day. And for those of you who recognized the title of this post. go by Mae’s Destination: B-Sides at midnight. I hope WalMart has it.
So. Staple was really good! My friends in Pennington rocked the Blackroom before them too. Everything went wonderfully. EXCEPT that the delay send from only Jesse’s vocal stopped working after sound check. Oh well. Today I ran sound for Sarah Goodman’s senior recital which was awesome. She’s a music education major. with emphasis in flute. Makes me want to play flute again… I realized today that this rectial was my 10th gig in the past month. That means I’ve done more than two each week. They’re usually all on weekends too.
I’m really tired… no not tired… just drained for any engergy I thought i had. I think I should go find something to eat..
I’ll probably write more later tonight…
So I guess its Thursday already… I’m about to go run sound for Vespers. and record it… I have Sound Reinforcement after that. and then I might actually get around to watching Shrek 2. Who knows. I am running sound for Staple and Pennington tomorrow night and helping setup for another concert in LaDue. Then on Saturday… I have to run sound for a practice and then Sarah Goodman’s Senior Recital.
I need to catch up on stuff… I hadn’t gotten more than 2 hours of sleep any night since last Thursday. Then… on Wedneday at about 9:30 AM. I slept and didn’t wake up for 12 hours. I was then up until 12:30 AM and then slept until 9 AM today. So. I am almost caught up on sleep. Something tells me I should go back over to LaDue to see if the worship team is there yet. I’ll write more later!
High of 75
by Relient K
[Chorus]
And now I’m sunny with a high of 75
Since You took my heavy heart
And made it light
And its funny how you find
You enjoy your life
When you’re happy to be alive
What a weekend… Saturday night I ran sound for Anathallo. with Lee-Enfield. Circa. and Husband and Wife. AWESOME show!! I was pretty happy with it… Last night I ran sound for Taylor Sorenson. Berry. Airline. and Cool Hand Luke. Another amazing show! Lot of work though… oh well… Today I have to record Sarah Goodman’s Senior Recital practice… and I am tired!!! Nap time! What do you all think of the new layout? I have to fix some browser compatability issues… so if something doesn’t look right. it probably isn’t fixed! But. let me know ways… Amy approves… so what you have to say might not matter!
Oh. and I meant to look up Jeremiah 33:3. as that was the verse that Cool Hand Luke quoted last night… That verse is: “‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’” That’s God speaking by the way. However. I looked up Psalm 33:3 by accident. and that verse is “Sing to him a new song; play skillfully. and shout for joy.” How cool is that? They both rock!
Nap time!
Ok well. this is sort of what my new template will look like for the whole site. I have to edit a TON more CSS tags to get it all working. I forgot how complicated Blogger is when it comes to doing layouts… Oh well… I’ll figure it out. but not right now… it’s 6:40 AM and I am supposed to be up in 3 hours to mix with Aaron. Then. I’m running sound for Cool Hand Luke. Should be an interesting day… Let me know what you think of this layout… It’s going to look much better when I’m done… but still! Let me know!
It seems to me. many people have watched Michael Moore’s Fahrenheit 9/11 and then decided they agreed with Moore. taken his ‘documentary’ as truth and placed themselves with the crowd of people who are against President Bush. I’d say most of these people haven’t followed politics enough to know what was true or false. or what really was deceiving about the movie. Many people also based their November 2nd vote based on this solely. I’d also say that most of them haven’t taken the time since seeing the movie to do a little research to read up on what really happened. So. I’ve done a little of that myself. Here’s a few links to get yourself enthralled in. Oh. and… If you didn’t know. Michael Moore has a reputation for deceiving in his movies… It’s not always lying but its twisting the truth. putting things in different order. and using questions as dialog to get you to believe what he wants you to think. Oh. and I don’t claim the sources below to be completely accurate. but they do present the other side of the story. if not the truth.
Fifty-Nine Deceits in Fahrenheit 911
Debunking Fahrenheit 911
Unfairenheit 9/11 - The Lies of Michael Moore
Moore’s Fahrenheit 9/11 is Fraught With Lies
So. the new Relient K album is amazing. You need to all go buy it for $10. Oh and… It’s getting cold… and Bush is still President.
