Where did time (and my money) go?

Saturday, April 2nd, 2005

Wow… So the past week has gone by so very fast. I don’t even know what to write. Well. at work. I spent the first part of the week working on some web page stuff for BEL. Then. the last couple days I was programming a Soundweb-London system. Think of it as a 1U rackspace unit that’s a mixer. but everything is programmed via software and a computer. It interfaces with other units. controllers. and computers through Ethernet. In the software. you route your audio just like you were drawing a flow chart. like in Visio or AutoCAD. You also add processing like EQ. compression. etc. which is all built into the unit with DSP. It’s pretty cool. You can check out the unit if you go to http://www.soundweb-london.com. It’s the BLU-80.

I bought way too much stuff this week. It’s so tempting when things are on sale. I’ll probably buy them anyway. and Delaware has tax-free shopping. I bought the new Reggie and the Full Effect and Superchic[k] albums. The Reggie album is really good. for a “joke band” of sorts. Plus. my friends Dan and Karl have album credits. The artwork has NO coherencey: photos are aweful and low-res. colors don’t match. nothing makes sense. The Superchic[k] album is amazing. I’ve been waiting for it since September. It kept getting pushed back. I also got on DVD: Closer. Josie and the Pussycats. A.I.. The Cell. and Go. Oh and. I cancelled my order for that Plextor DVD Burner. because Best Buy had the same drive for $10 more. but it had an open box discount. and there’s still the $30 rebate. and no tax. So. it was actually cheaper. Yay. Oh. and I get $5 from Reward Zone. I also went to the mall and bought a pair of New Balance m807nv shoes. It was time. Yay.

Anyways. I’m going to sleep… Tired! I’m driving back to IL on Sunday morning. Night!

Spring Break ‘05

Saturday, March 26th, 2005

I can’t believe this is my last Spring Break ever. I can’t believe it’s here already. Where do I start? Last night. Dan Wolfe and I went to Chili’s to satisfy a strong hunger and slight withdraw. We went to Best Buy and then came back. I packed and cleaned. Hopefully. a cat won’t trash the place nor some random person chasing one out with a golf club. I hope my TV and DVD player stay safe as well.

I left at 10:30 AM CST on Friday morning. and got to Cincinnati. OH at my uncle’s at 4:00 PM EST. which makes it a 4.5 hour drive. It’s amazing how quick that is when there’s no Indianapolis. IN construction to sit in for an hour. Then. I just vegged out on here. I watched “Finding Neverland” which is an amazing movie. If you haven’t seen it yet. you must.

I’m spending Easter here I think. or at least driving to NJ on Easter. My mother told me she was leaving NJ to come here “in a couple hours” when I talked to her at 4 PM. Turns out she and my brother left around 8 PM. So. she’s right on time. (That was sarcastic.)

In other news. you should all go get new albums from: Plain White T’s. Hidden in Plain View. Norma Jean. Copeland. Anberlin. Eisley. and on Tuesday. you should get new albums from Mae and Reggie and the Full Effect (featuring an album credit and loops by Dan Wolfe). I know. I definitely haven’t posted enough lately. but I’ll try to do better. For now. I’m going to take a nap. Happy Good Friday… oh wait. it’s not Friday anymore. huh?

Too much…

Monday, March 21st, 2005

I’m warning you right now… this is going to be a pretty lame post. I have so much to do before I leave for home on Thursday night or Friday morning. I’ve got Senior Recital recordings piled up on my hard drive to mix. stuff for BEL to get done before 4 PM tomorrow. I’m sort of sick… but I don’t get sick… I have to really get stuff done for my DM Portfolio… ahh… I’m so behind on everything.

I have nothing else to say but check this link out. Absolutely ridiculous.

SR and SR is for Geeks

Saturday, February 26th, 2005

Julie Hunter’s Senior Recital - That’s what I did today… all day… I ran sound and recorded… all 21 tracks or so… We’ll see how it comes out… I love when stuff works… No problems with anything… always a good thing… And now… I think I am going to hook my sound card back up so I can listen to some Mae. Tomorrow I’m setting up for Kelly Condron’s Senior Recital Jury. which is Monday. Tuesday I am setting up for Josh Rocha’s Jury. which is Wednesday. Thursday I am running sound for Vespers. which also has a practice on Tuesday. Thursday after Vespers. I’m setting up for Anson Boullion’s Senior Recital which is Friday. So. I just now realized I will be in LaDue every day this week doing sound.

What a random day!!

Saturday, February 26th, 2005

Ok. so this day is officially over. and it was definitely far more random than I could have imagined. So… Alex is my new friend and she found me on Mae’s forums. and she decided to IM me since she just heard of Greenville. Speaking of Mae. the new album is totally amazing.. thanks to Matt Wright for hooking me up with the whole thing…

So I setup for Julie Hunter’s Senior Recital. which is tomorrow at 7 PM. and if you’re on campus you should definitely go. not just because it’s going to be really good. but because I put a ton of work into setting up sound. After that. I came back here and made a bunch of TRS Insert Cables.

During that. Samantha Wolfer IM’d me. She was in my brother’s elementary school class… and I probably haven’t talked to or seen her since… the 90’s.

Oh. and… I almost forgot… at 11 AM. another recording job I did for Brandywine Electronics. Ltd. will be aired on WDEL 1150 AM if you’re in the Delmarva area. or you can listen online at www.wdel.com. If you like good classical music in the least. you should definitely listen. as these recordings feature some amazing musicians ranging in age from 12 to 18 years old…

Anyways… I hope your Saturday is as eventful as my Friday was. Night everyone.

I’ll be just fine… pretending I’m not…

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2005

Well. I’m sitting here on one of the only free night I have before Spring Break… and… I don’t feel like doing the one homework assignment I have to do. My computer has been rendering a video for the past 3 hours and will be for the next 3 hours. Blah.

Mae posted a new song on PureVolume today. Go listen and then reflect on what a beautiful song it is… even streaming at a crappy 96 kbps. March 29th can’t come soon enough.

I worked at the Helpdesk today for like 3.5 hours. That was exciting… Not too bad of a day… The only odd thing is that I’m working at 8:30 AM too. So it’ll be kind of like I never left.

So. Jason Leong asked me to run FOH for Singapore For America’s CD Release Party on March 16th. How cool is that? They’re great… and I’m told that Josh Rocha is also playing… So at least I have a good show to look forward to. You should all mark your calendars to come to that show. It is a Wednesday night.

Tomorrow. Charlie Peacock is speaking on campus. After that. Solafide and Lexington are performing a song or two for him. and awaiting his input. I will be running Front of House for that. I hope it goes well. This would be one of those stressful. under pressure gigs. After that. I will be running sound for Vespers for the third week in a row… I think it’s the third anyway.

Saturday is Julie Hunter’s Senior Recital. and before that happens. I need come up with a way of recording about 23-24 tracks of audio. Matt Good is letting us use his 002 rig. which will give us 16 tracks. I might have to use the old ADAT… Blah.

The time is 2:22

Thursday, February 17th, 2005

“The time is 2:22 and I hope your wish comes true
But you say I’ll know before you do and I hope you’re right”
- The Juliana Theory

You know. that line has me thinking about a lot of things. The time really is 2:22 AM… and I remember when I first heard that song. I saw The Juliana Theory live at Purple Door Fest in 1999. Seriously. how many of you listened to The Juliana Theory in 1999? Anyways…

I managed to seriously twist my ankle yesterday while setting up for Julie Hunter’s Jury which was this morning. I didn’t think I was going to be able to walk today. But… as my mother says. “If there’s no blood. you’re fine.” I’ll probably suffer through the pain for the next week or so and hope it goes away.

I’ve been utterly busy with BEL’s website. integrating phpBB and osCommerce… That’s going OK… I’m at least getting the hang of this PHP stuff… I also just mixed the first song on the 2nd Wilmington Music School recording gig. It’s amazing… Maybe I’ll let ya hear it later. The more i think about it… the more I really want a pair of AKG C414 mics. They’re beautiful. Now. if I could just manage to find $1.700 somewhere.

Let’s see… Tomorrow I have to setup for Rock Class Lab at 8 AM. then I work from 8:30 AM till 11 AM. I have class from 11 AM until 12:20 PM. and then I have another Rock Class Lab at 3 PM… and then I’m setting up sound for two things. Ahhh…

I shall go snuggle in my bed… and dream of all of the beautiful things that I won’t remember when I wake up…

Go buy these now!

Sunday, February 13th, 2005

Random thought…

Sunday, February 6th, 2005

So. I’m watching the Halftime Show… and the geek that I am. thought to myself. “How the heck do you run Front of House in a Stadium.” You’re not supposed to answer that… but let me know what you think…
