Another June Comes To A Close…

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

I have got to start posting on a more frequent basis. It seems like every time I post anymore, its out of guilt to catch up. And now for the skinny version:

  • I’m back on Twitter… Tweeting more since it seems to have become mainstream. I started using it when no one else knew what it was or cared… Follow me. I’m also using TweetDeck, which has also come a long way since it’s first private beta release.
  • I finally setup Google Apps on this domain. That means I’m also using nick [at] muzicman82.net as my primary e-mail address. You should update your address book. That’s also going to be my Google Talk account as well.
  • As of today, which marks the official release of Mozilla Firefox 3.5, I am going to start using Firefox as my primary browser once again. Where have I been? I’ve been using Google Chrome since version 2.0 came out. It’s REALLY fast. I love the single bar for searches, addresses, etc… but it’s just missing the ability to create and use Add-Ons that Firefox does so well. Firefox 3.5 is very fast. I’ll revisit Chrome when some milestones are made.
  • I recently returned from a sailing trip with the Wilmington Power Squadron on board Sweet Dreams. Kam and I were only able to stay until Wednesday, but its was nice even for a few days.
  • As soon as I click “Publish” on this post, I am going to upgrade WordPress. It’s been way too long without an upgrade.

Updates!!

Monday, May 26th, 2008

Ok, so I’ve been off the air since I completed my year of blogging.

So the past two weeks have been filled with lots of work. And after work, I’ve been cleaning, spackling, painting, organizing my room (while simultaneously trashing the rest of the house). I’ve replaced all of the drumheads on my set, and purchased a DW 9002 double kick pedal.

Anyways…

I want this now.

I’m the worst impulse buyer ever…

So, I’ve been thinking about getting a 24″ Dell LCD for over a year now. Every time I decide on getting one, they come out with the next year’s model, which means they get more expensive. So, I saw today that the Dell 2008WFP was $100 off with free shipping. It doesn’t get better than that, so I ordered it. Mmmm, now I’m going to watch Blu-ray in true 1080p fashion!

Aghh! I can’t win!

So, I just got my clean install back up AGAIN.. and then CHKDSK put ALL of the files on my documents partition into lost file folders.. about 4,000 of them. Luckily, I haven’t changed much since my last backup, so I just did a search in the FOUND.000 folder for all files modified in the last week, saved those, then restored the last backup. All better. But still, what the heck happened?

Ohh don’t do this…

Well, I had just got done getting a clean install on the laptop back up.. and then Vista stopped booting. Oh well. I’m back up again… this time with an image made for backup.

Four Cores!

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

I have an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor in the desktop. Four cores of 2.4Ghz power. Woooo!

Maybe someday when I’m patient and don’t need stability, I’ll experiment with overclocking this beat. I did it for the fun of it a minute ago, and got it to 3.0Ghz, which apparently is normal for this chip. Some users have gotten it to 3.6Ghz.

Our power didn’t come back on until around 10:30 AM. However, I thought I was still here then, or left right then, and it wasn’t on when I left. Oh well.

Argghh Computer!

Yeah, so I finished installing everything on Vista, and then went to the shop today to get the new Matrox RT.X2 card for real-time video editing in Adobe Premiere Pro CS3. Well, it apparently doesn’t support 64-bit Windows XP or Vista. So, I’m reinstalling everything ALL OVER again on Windows XP. I haven’t used XP much in over two years. I don’t mind it, it’s just a throw back to 2001 I guess. Anyways, I’ve got to get this project done.. soon. I didn’t make much progress today.

Ok Computer.

I somehow botched my Vista installation while trying to get my hard drives back in order. I think Vista ended up writing the MBR to a different drive than the one it was installed on. Stupid installer.

So I’m now reinstalling everything.

Oh, I love DOA hard drives.

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

Yeah, so I bought four Seagate 7200.11 hard drives from Newegg earlier in the week. I got them, and slowly figured out that two of them were bad. Brand new. Terrific. So, now, I’m paying for the return of them, a restocking fee, and eating the shipping from the original order. That’s just great. If only one were bad, I’d get it replaced.. but two? It makes me nervous putting my data on the two that work. Anyways, that’s life I guess. It figures that the first hard drives I buy in over 8 years that aren’t Hitachi are bad. Sorry Hitachi, I won’t let you down next time.

Oh Data.

So, we got this Lacie Biggest FW800 for work. It failed. I’m now trying to recover 2TB of data from it. This is going to take forever. That’s my day.
