Facts

The following list is an on-going accumulation of random facts that you should know about me. This might be useful if you’re stalking me, or just want to impress me with how much useless stuff you know about me. I’ll add to this periodically, and change ones as necessary. If you think of something I should add, please feel free to let me know with a comment.

  1. I put ranch dressing on just about anything made of potatoes. chicken. or beef.
  2. I prefer Hidden Valley Original Ranch Dressing.
  3. I like brightly lit rooms. I don’t like when lights change the colors of things.
  4. I was born in Seoul. Korea.
  5. I was adopted when I was 2 months old.
  6. I’ve lived in the same house in New Jersey since then.
  7. At one point. eight people lived in my house.
  8. I own a yo-yo that cost me $100 when I was in 8th grade.
  9. My last name. Marques. is pronounced “Marks”.
  10. My mother has a different last name. it’s not her maidden name. and she’s not married (any more).
  11. My brother was adopted when he was 2 years old. he’s a year younger than me. and we’re not blood-related.
  12. My dad used to work for the New York Daily News. A Current Affair. New York Post. and the New York Sun. He’s now back at the Daily News.
  13. My mother used to be the Chairwoman of the Republican Organization in my county. until 2006.
  14. I run sound more than I go to shows anymore.
  15. I really like the regular V8 vegetable juice. but it has to be ice cold.
  16. If I get a 20 oz. coffee somewhere. it has to have 10 packets of sugar and 4 creamers.
  17. I wear size 8 shoes if they’re New Balance. Anything else is usually smaller.
  18. I love to cook. Garlic. green bell peppers. and onions can be put into almost anything.
  19. I’ve never done any drugs.
  20. I’ve never been drunk, or at least to a point where I wasn’t coherent, sick, or couldn’t remember the next day.
  21. I get cold really easily. yet I hate it when its really hot.
  22. When I clean. whatever I am cleaning is as clean as new by the time I’m done.
  23. I hate dirty windows. glasses. and anything else that’s supposed to be seen through.
  24. I sleep on my stomach. but I usually wake up on my back. I never sleep sideways.
  25. I’m usually fine with about 6 hours of sleep every night. but if I don’t set an alarm. I’ll probably wake up in 10 hours.
  26. I prefer stoves to microwaves. unless of course something only has microwave directions.
  27. I took flute lessons from 4th grade thru my sophomore year of college.
  28. I taught myself how to play the drums and guitar. starting both in 7th grade.
  29. I was in a band called Distant Harmony my junior and senior year of high school. I played drums. We were sort of punk rock.
  30. It usually takes a lot for me to get sunburn. but when I do. my skin turns sort of orange.
  31. One time. my mother had me put some Melaluca brand salve on a bug bite on my leg. It made it deeper.
  32. I like kittens. Most cats are evil.
  33. I have performed electrical work (wiring and such) in my house and at the offices in my Church. Berfore I did it. I didn’t know how to.
  34. I’ve done plumbing work in my house. and I didn’t know what I was doing there either.
  35. I hate it when I can’t find something.
  36. Coke is better than Pepsi. and I prefer Cherry Coke unless I can’t get it.
  37. I don’t like most beers. I enjoy Bud Light and not much else.
  38. I had Cat Scratch Fever when I was in 4th grade. The bacteria settled in my right eye.
  39. I can catch poison ivy in the air. I’ve been on steroids for it before when I was little.
  40. I’m shy until I get to know you. I generally don’t talk to people unless they talk to me first. In fact. I may be the shyest person you’ll ever meet.
  41. I pretty much always wear no-show socks.
  42. I don’t own any jeans. I only wear khakis.
  43. My favorite wine is white zinfandel. I like both Sutter Home and Beringer. I also cook with it.
  44. One of my favorite random facts is that a day on Earth is really 23 hours. 56 minutes. and 4 seconds. That’s why we have leap years.
  45. I like modular origami. If you don’t know what that is. go here.
  46. My favorite color is blue. I like just about any shade of it.
  47. I love driving. The 15 hours between college and home was fun. and its a piece of cake.
  48. I don’t watch much TV or play any video games. I do play computer games. They rule.
  49. I have over 200 DVDs.
  50. I don’t snore. Ever. It’s also really easy to wake me up.
  51. I’ve been washing my own laundry since 6th grade. I prefer to do it myself than let someone else.
  52. When I was in high school. I had to wear khakis. dress shirt. tie. and jacket every day.
  53. When I was in high school. I could get up and get dressed in less than 7 minutes.
  54. I was named after Santa. err.. Jolly Old St. Nick. My brother was named after Chris Cringle.
  55. I have never broken any bones and gotten treated for it.
  56. When I was in 6th grade. I broke my right pinky playing basketball. My mother didn’t think it was broken. I found out later it was. and it was too late to fix it. So. it’s very slightly out of place now.
  57. I made my first and second website in 1996. You can still see it here. I haven’t touched it in over 8 years.
  58. When I was little. I had a huge Transformers collection. I still have most of them.
  59. I wear Givenchy Pi.
  60. I type using all of my fingers. but its probably not how you’re supposed type. I taught myself when I was in 2nd grade.
  61. I don’t wear jewlery. I think I like silver more than gold.
  62. I almost always wear a watch when I’m out. When I get home. I take it off.
  63. I have over 10 e-mail addresses for different purposes. I’ve only ever had 3 personal addresses.
  64. I’ve had my AIM screen name since 7th grade.
  65. I didn’t make a personal website with my own domain until May of 2004.
  66. My favorite card games are 500 Rummy. Speed. and Go Fish.
  67. I used to take things apart and put them back together for the fun of it. Now I just take things apart when they need fixed.
  68. For some reason. I prefer clear glasses to cups or mugs.
  69. My dad got a Nintento Entertainement System before I did. He also had a Game Boy when they came out.
  70. Tetris is one of my favorite games. My high score is 768 lines. No. I didn’t cheat.
  71. I’m not a huge fan of orange juice. but I’ll drink it.
  72. I don’t like it when things that are supposed to be white aren’t white.
  73. My room was added onto the house as a mudroom. I took over it as my bedroom.
  74. My junior year of high school. I randomly bought myself a piccolo before I knew if I could play it.
  75. I’m a Christian. I was raised Catholic until I was about 13.
  76. I rarely get sick.
  77. I used to like scallops. Now I don’t.
  78. I usually like things on sandwiches better without bread. I’ll often disect the last few bites of a burger or sandwich and eat the components by themselves.
  79. I’ve only had two girlfriends.
  80. When it comes to movies. I prefer widescreen over full screen.
  81. During high school. I never used pens. I only used mechanical pencils.
  82. I took Computer Assisted Design & Drafting at a Vo-Tech school during 7th & 8th grades. It was supposed to be for high school juniors and seniors.
  83. I started typing all of my homework in 6th grade.
  84. I change the oil in my car and do some repairs myself.
  85. I live on a 36 acre farm with dozens of cats. There used to be lots of horses, dogs, and at some point, sheep, goats, and a pony.
  86. It’s been about two years without a dog. This is the first time we’ve never had at least one dog on the farm in my life.
  87. My right thumb is about a half inch shorter than my left thumb.
  88. I played soccer for 11 years. indoor soccer for 2 years. basketball for 2 years. and cross country for 3 years.
  89. I can’t whistle.
  90. When I was about 5. I had to hold a popsickle stick behind a tooth for a 30 minutes a night for a month. I’ve never had braces.
  91. I love camping.
  92. I love the beach. although I don’t like swimming if the water is really cold. Sometimes. I’ll do it anyway.
  93. I’ve been fishing. but never caught a fish.
  94. I taught myself Crestron programming for work.
  95. I’ve played flute/piccolo for Pomp & Circumstance for 12 graduations.
  96. I used to put ice cubes in my soup when it was in the least bit hot. I also used to hate ice cold drinks.
  97. “The Lost World: Jurassic Park” was the first DVD I ever bought.
  98. My middle name is Joji. That’s pronounced Joe-Jee. I don’t really know where it came from.
  99. My favorite Bible verse is Romans 12:11 – “Never be lacking in zeal. but keep your spiritual fervor serving the Lord” (NIV).
  100. I am allergic to an antibiotic called amoxicillin. I’m told that this means I’m probably allergic to the other cillins.
  101. I had scarlet fever once.
  102. I’m a college graduate. My major was called “Sound and Information Technologies”. I made it up as part of Greenville College’s Individually Tailored Education Plan.
  103. I drive a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee. My mother named her Rosie. and she has over 286,000 miles on her as of 8/3/07.
  104. I feel really out of place when I talk about techie things to non-techie people.
  105. I don’t really care that the title of this page says there’s 100 facts here, and there’s really 105. I think its kind of funny.
